The Trojan Horse Remake

Author's Note: The reason I wrote about Achilles because I believe he was one of the more important characters to the Trojan War.

In the original story Achilles is a Greek warrior that is in the trojan horse with the other Greeks. He ends up murdering Hector and strapping him to the back of his chariot and rides around Troy 3 times. After all this Achilles is shot in ankle with an arrow which is his weak spot and falls in battle. In the modern version of the play Achilles doesn't go into the horse he simply goes behind it. Also instead of him trying Hector to the back of his chariot and riding around Troy 3 times he just stabbed him 3 times.

Some things that were the same in this story was that Achilles was still shot in the ankle and killed but it was not by an archer. Things that were different were that he didn't go into the horse and he didn't ride around Troy with Hector on his chariot. This was a good remake into a modern version because it made everyone in this story act like it was modern yet they were still part of the Trojan War.

The Trojan Horse

Author's note: I wrote this piece because it was supposed to be a response that I had to do a conflict/resolution so I wrote it into a conflict resolution piece.

Enjoying that the war is over, the Greeks have offered a gift, the Trojan Horse. The main conflict of this is that the Greeks have offered a gift for peace, the Trojan Horse but they hid some of the Greek army in it with Odysseus. The Greek myth is that the Greeks made a giant wooden horse called the Trojan Horse and hid in it. They sent the horse to Troy and had it at the front gates; the Trojans took it into the gates not knowing what was truly inside. At sunset the Greek warriors busted out attacking Troy and ending the ten year long war.The conflict in this story is that the Trojans of Troy don’t know if this gift from the Greeks is real or not.

Even though discussing about the conflict helps its better if it was explained. This is the conflict because the people at Troy didn’t know if the gift was what it was said to have been or a trick. A Greek spy named Sinon told the Trojans that the Trojan Horse was filled with gold and at the end of the day it would open.

On the other hand the resolution is valuable to this story and what led up to the resolution. Some of the events that happened after the conflict was Sinon told the Trojans that the giant wooden horse was filled with gold and it would open at sunset. Another thing that happened is when they let sinon go he went to the beach to signal that the people of troy accepted the gift so that the greeks could attack them by surprise.

Although the conflict is important don’t forget about the resolution. The resolution of this story is when the Greeks burst through the Trojan Horse and destroy the city of Troy. The reason this is the resolution because the Trojans found out that the Trojan Horse was a trick but because they got drunk they could not defend themselves so the greeks destroyed their city.

All in all the conflict was that the people of troy accepted the Trojan Horse. All the events that lead up to the resolution made what the Greek myth is now, a tale of trickery. Also the resolution was when the greeks attacked the trojans with odysseus.

A Wrinkle In Space and Time

Warping through space and time to an unknown location in the universe. Thats what three kids name Meg, Calvin, and Charles Wallace have to do in A Wrinkle In Time by Madeleine L'Engle. The three of them meet three women named Mrs. Who, Mrs. Which, and Mrs. Whatsit. All of them embark on a journey to another world to save Meg and Charles Wallace’s Father. The  conflict of this story is the dark thing that is taking over stars and planets.

Although explaining the conflict helps it would help to explain it. The reason that this is the conflict other than Charles Wallace and Meg’s father being stuck on camazotz is because if the dark thing took over a planet then everything on that planet turns evil. If the dark thing takes over any planet then it either destroys it or turns it evil. This type of conflict is person vs. self because on camazotz they have to help themselves from letting IT take over them.

Even though the conflict is interesting the resolution of this story is even more interesting. The resolution of this story is when meg tessers back to camazotz and saves charles wallace from IT and they escape camazotz without any further complications.

In Addition the resolution is valuable to this story and what led up to the resolution. Some factors that lead up to the resolution were that Meg wanted to get her little brother Charles Wallace back from IT. Another thing could have been that Mrs. Whatsit didn’t believe that Meg have fully accomplished what she was supposed to do on camazotz. These are some of the events that lead up to the resolution and help with what resolved the conflict.

All in all the conflict is when the dark thing taking over stars and planets and either turning them evil or destroying them. The resolution of this story is when Meg frees Charles Wallace and tessers back to Earth.

Who Am I?

The Mean Green Fighting Machine

Getting chased by the army when he is enraged and a physicist when not. Running through the streets with ripped shorts. Almost infinite rage, anger for anything that wants to capture him. Smart when calm yet not when enraged. Started from gamma ray radiation and not able to control his rage.

When enraged he turns into a colossus man with huge muscles, and when he isn't, he is just a plain physicist. Started when he was exposed to the blast area of the gamma radiation after a system malfunction. Running from himself when he is fueled with rage and trying to make the military understand that he is a normal human.

After becoming the fighting machine, he discovered how is the way he is .His father was a scientist for genetics growth after being refused to work in that category his dad lost it. His dad got fired for doing human trials on himself which is how he got it. Afterward his dad started a nuclear meltdown that destroyed his home town.

Barely Escaping

Darkness, not being able to move or feel any limbs. This is what it is like when Meg, Calvin and Charles Wallace feel like when tessering in the book A Wrinkle In Time by Madeleine L'engle. The climax starts when Meg, Calvin and Charles Wallace start walking down the hill. Before they start walking down the hill it says “She was completely unaware that her voice was trembling like an aspen leaf.” (Page 114 - 115)

Although talking about what the climax was I think I will explain why this is the climax. The reason I believe this is the climax is because everything after this point goes completely wrong; they figure out everyone has synchronized tasks. Some things that could have cause this is because of the dark thing that shadows over planets and turns them evil. Either the dark thing has made them evil or the evil brain IT has taken them all over.

Even though these cause the climax don’t forget about the effects of the climax. Some of the effects that were cause because of the climax were that they almost lost Charles Wallace. Another effect from the climax was when Meg got frozen when the tessered to another planet with their father. Another thing that was cause by the climax was “She Heard Calvin’s frozen voice: “But its beating. She’s Alive” (Page 180).

On the other hand if these events never happened at all then numerous situations would have never happened. One example is that if these events didn’t happen then Meg and Charles Wallace would never see their father again. Another thing is that the frightening situations that happens to them like Charles Wallace getting taken over or Meg getting frozen would have never happened.

All in all the events that occur in this book is important to the climax and what happens throughout the story. I know that the climax starts after they start walking down the hill on camazotz. They start to notice that something is wrong once they start getting to the outskirts of the town.

"After You, My Dear Alphonse" Response

Author's Note: This is a response from the story "After You, My Dear Alphonse" by Shirley Jackson.

This story relates to naivete and reverse racism because the mother is trying to connect racism to the little boy johnny brought home. Every time she tries to do so it ends up being the complete opposite thing that she is trying to say about him. Like when she says, “Boyd, Johnny has some suits that are a little too small for him, and a winter coat. It’s not new, of course, but there’s lots of wear in it still. And I have a few dresses that your mother or sister could probably use. Your mother can make them over into lots of things for all of you, and I'd be very happy to give them to you. Suppose before you leave I make up a big bundle and then you and Johnny can take it over to your mother right away." When she says this she is thinking that his family doesn't have a lot of clothes and that his mother knew how to sew because she is connecting him and his family to what people had slaves do before the civil war.

Some naivete in this story are like how the boys are so naive that they don't understand what johnny's mother means when she says everything she does. Some ways this story compares to some countries in the world is pretty much everywhere because some people think about someone a certain way because of their race. A lesson that shirley jackson is trying to say is just because of someones race doesn't mean that you should judge people by their race.

A Place to Socialize

A cafe, clean, and well lighted. In the story A Clean, Well-lighted Place by Ernest Hemingway is about two waiters having to stay late because of an old man drowning his sorrows in drink. The film someone made makes this story a little more dramatic and let someone understand it a little more. Some things that added suspense to this is the music in the beginning which sounded sad because the old man was drinking his sorrows away. Also when the young waiter kicked him out the music started playing again, I don't think it was for the old guy leaving but the older waiter not wanting the younger waiter to kick him out.

Although the music is interesting to talk about don't forget about the lighting and screenshots in this story's film. The lighting was confusing because cafes are supposed to be lit up all the time but half the bar was not lit. Also some of the lights in the cafe and around were very dim. Different Screenshots made this dramatic during some parts of the film. Also at some points to make it even more dramatic the screenshots would be at the waiters then the old man.
