Running Away From Danger

Imagine being on the run from gorgons, that are sisters of medusa and not being able to sleep or rest and not knowing your past or why you are running. In the Book The Son Of Poseidon Percy Jackson lost his memory and has been away for almost a year. Finally after a long time he gets to his destination, not even know what the destination is. He ends up finding the Roman Camp called Camp Jupiter and losing the Mark of Achilles which is a Greek blessing. He finds out that the Roman camp has lost their eagle which protects them from monster attacks. After a few days at camp he has to go on a quest to rescue Death and his Greek name is Thanantos. Some people at the camp think that the quest he is going on is going to fulfill a prophecy from 50 years back. The only problem with this quest is that the eldest Giant has Thanantos and he is undefeatable in his homeland where he was currently.

What I think will happen is that Percy will fulfill the prophecy and free Thanantos. If he fulfills the prophecy then he will need to have Thanantos lead them to the doors of death and help get the souls back into the underworld. I also think that he will retrieve the eagle from the giant and will become the praetor of Camp Jupiter. He remembers some things about his past and he doesn’t want to become the praetor of Camp Jupiter. I also think that the old Praetor Jason will come back before the Feast of Fortuna and they won’t have to find a new praetor.

I think all this is going to happen because in the books Rick Riordan writes in his books prior to that book it sort of lays out what will happen in the next book. In the book previous to this one Jason is the main character and he goes to the Greek camp and ends up going on a quest and ends up saving the god Juno and trying to save the camp. Jason is Roman and he was the previous praetor to Camp Jupiter but ended up getting switched with Percy. Percy is Greek and is sent to the Roman camp and Jason, the complete opposite is sent to the Greek camp. Since Percy is getting popular at Camp Jupiter some people want him to be the praetor.

Fitting in with society

Author's Note: I wrote about Touching Spirit Bear because it was easy to think of the themes for the book. I worked on better word choice in this piece.

Boys and girls running outside in the school playground from two kids fighting. One kid getting his head smashed into the ground. In the novel Touching Spirit Bear Cole Matthews goes through numerous life changing events. I know that a number of the themes are loss, courage and bravery. The story shows the themes when he goes to the island in Alaska for a year of isolation. The author demonstrates in the book to readers that people who don’t fit in with society need to fit in with society.

Although themes are fun to talk about I want to discuss how those themes are in the novel. The reason that I know loss is a theme of the book is because Cole lost his childhood because his father drank and beat him. Since Cole’s father beat him while he was drinking he couldn’t have a normal childhood because his life went downhill after his father beat him. When his father beat Cole his mother didn’t want his father to beat her as well because he was drinking. One possible reason that Cole’s dad beat him was because his dad’s parent beat his dad like how his dad beat him. Kids who are abused by their parents either have a bad childhood or they miss out on their childhood.

Even though loss is one them don’t forget about the other themes are even more interesting. I know that courage and bravery is a theme because after he get mauled by the spirit bear he could have just gone to court but he went back to the island. Since he went back to the island he still had all of his problems like his right arm being weak and he had a harder time to walk. He had to be alone for one year with him being weaker then everything else.  People who have damages to their body it is hard to recover and make limbs strong they were before.

Although Touching Spirit Bear is a story that demonstrates if you don’t fit in with society you better try better to fit in. The themes kind of describe what the author trying to demonstrate. Its better if you fit in society and if you don’t you won’t live a good life.
