Dreaming for the future, making goals for later. This is a poem called "Dreams" by Langston Hughes. The overall tone of this poem is serious because it is saying that if someone gives up on their dreams then they will end up regretting it later. Some of the symbolism is the broken-winged bird which stands for vulnerability and loss of freedom.
